The Grace of God

What is the meaning of Grace?

Grace is defined as the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God.

For by Grace (the goodness of God) are you saved through Faith (faith in Christ); and that not of yourselves (not by our own deeds are we saved(forgiven), but by the Grace of God); it is the Gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

For all have sinned (all men have sinned) and come short of the Glory of God. Romans 3:23

For the Law was given by Moses, but Grace and Truth came by Jesus Christ. John 1:17

So, what does all this mean, exactly? It means that it is NEVER too late to be saved and forgiven by God! All humans have sinned, but Jesus died on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. God will forgive your sins, no matter what they are. How is this possible? Through faith and belief in Jesus Christ, through repentance, and eventually through Baptism.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

Developing a relationship with Jesus Christ is the first step toward developing faith and belief in Him. In order to build a relationship with Him, you need to learn about His teachings and talk to Him every day through prayer. Begin learning about His life and teachings by reading the New Testament, especially The Book of John. Find a good Bible based church that you are comfortable with. Fellowship with other Christians is extremely important.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20

Over time, you will see that your faith in Him will get stronger. Eventually, your love for Him will become so strong, you will be eager to repent of your sins. Repentance is necessary for salvation. True repentance involves admitting your sin and being truly sorry for it, and then turning away from the sin and changing your behavior. When you are ready, talk to your pastor about becoming baptized.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Mark 16:16

You can claim the Grace of God right now by saying the following prayer.

“Dear God, I admit that I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sin, and I ask you to forgive me. I believe in my heart that I need salvation, and that I can only be saved through your Son, Jesus Christ. I accept Christ into my heart, and I admit that He died on the Cross for my sins. Amen”

If you have said these words, and truly believed them, by the Grace of God, you are now saved!
